Assignments

Assignment #1: Icons
This was made using Adobe Illustrator. We were asked to make icons of various objects. We could not use words, letters, numbers, or colors. I felt this was rather easy. My favorites are the ice cream and the rain icons.

Assignment #2: Texture Grid
We were assigned to make a 9x9 grid of textures, with each row having a different theme. The top row is normal. The second row focused on Positive and Negative space. The last row focused on value of black and whit tones. My favorite patterns are the middle texture in the first row, the last two textures in the second and third rows.

Assignment #3: Color Wheel

We were assigned to create a color wheel using two objects that complement each other. I chose a hat and a cane because I couldn't think of anything else at the time.
Assignment #4: Pop Art
We were assigned to make a pop art picture, using four different color schemes for each of the four squares. It was a good idea to keep my mouth closed, or I would have had to color in my teeth.

Assignment #5: Photo Mosaic
I decided to have a little fun with this assignment. I decided to have the main picture a nerd, and have all the tiles making up the picture be things that, sterotypically, a geek would like. Some of the tiles include Star Trek, Apple, Anime, and my personal favorite, Bacon.

Assignment #6: "If I Crossed The Road"
This one was kinda cool. We had to imitate the style of Stephen Kroniger, and make up a page in his children's book, "If I Crossed The Road". Creativity wasn't with me on the concept, but I tried the best I could everywhere else. Some photos were taken straight off the web, but some elements, like the Sun, the fish, and the head arms and feet of the guy in the middle were made with masks of construction paper images.

Assignment 7: Blending faces

The assignement was to put yourself in a picture. So I went where no one has ever gone before.

Assignment 8: Typography
I seriously blanked for ideas on this one. The entire image is made up of one word. I probably would have picked another subject if I had the time, but I do like how the screen and the logo came out.

Assignment 12: Type + Photo
This assignment had to do with putting text over a photo. This was the first thing that popped to mind. I wanted it to look old, but not ancient. The smaller text is the lyrics from John Lennon's "Imagine". I feel this is my best work so far.

Assignment #13: Exquisite Corpse
This assignment was to make an exquisite corpse, or a mix and match person. I did the head. I particularly like the mermaid tail one of the other students put at the bottom.

Assignment 14: Career Poster
This was was kinda fun. It didn't work out how it did in my mind, but still a god product nonetheless. My idea was to create parallells between creative or destructive with the career of Computer Animator. The last one though, creates an idea of "Good enough" or "BETTER". The idea was to make the creatively powerful side of the job appeal to teenagers.

Assignment 15: Illustrated Manuscript
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this. I was unable to put Will Smith in the chair, but I still nailed the lyrics to the theme to "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air". Some of the other tricks in this one were a little more technical, but worked like a charm anyway.

Assignment 16: Infographic
This is the background for an infographic that would have explained the history of art and typography. I loved doing the Codex, Photography, and Computer sections of this.
